Disillusion

I can feel him leaving me. It is not a purposeful exit but instead a slow, painful, ebb and flow departure without the goodbye. I reach out to find him but he no longer reaches back. His eyes no longer follow me as I walk across a room. I turn back to look, in hopes that I am wrong; instead, I am reminded again that he is drifting away. Or is he already gone?
